Breaking News - The Government has announced that Estate Agents in England can re-open

As of today, the 13th May, revised guidance to the property sector has been published allowing Estate Agents to re-open their branches and kickstart the industry back into motion.

With further updates to come, of which we will update you regularly, the initial announcements have confirmed the following;

  • Viewings can resume (there are limitations with this and virtual videos are still encouraged- more to follow)
  • Home moves can resume (with measures in place to limit contact and guidelines on preparing properties for change in occupiers)
  • Removal firms and conveyancers can also resume their services

Whilst the above is a basic overview and further details and information will be added, this means that the property industry can start moving again.

Over recent months, there have been growing concerns about a potential market collapse although many agents and landlords have remained hopeful and adapted to the times to keep the industry moving as best as possible.

Agents across the country, ourselves included, have been pleasantly surprised with the level of enquiries received and the positive attitude from prospective movers who still have plans to move.

With the adaption and uptake of virtual viewings, the lettings market in particular has shown great strength in continuing and this has also allowed for the industry to look at their business models for the future. This also now means that vendors selling their home are able to exchange and complete in a quicker time than originally anticipated.

Since the announcement, Bricks & Mortar will be focused on implementing appropriate measures for our staff and clients to ensure that then when we do choose to open to the public, that we are fully prepared.

Our underlying focus still remains with the safety and health of anyone associated with our business and whilst there has been a rush by many to reopen with immediate effect, rest assured that the Bricks & Mortar family will only be back in office when we are fully confident that we are able to do so.

We will be monitoring the guidance daily to keep you abreast of these revised changes. To keep up to date, why not sign up to our newsletter here.

From the Bricks & Mortar family, we hope you are all still staying safe and well with these times and we are looking forward to being back in our New Bridge Street home very soon.
