Where Should You Live in Newcastle?

Thinking about moving to Newcastle? There’s a huge choice of accommodation in the city and the surrounding areas, so take your time when deciding. For young professionals and families, it’s a good idea to find a property that’s close to entertainment facilities, parks, bars and restaurants. Great locations to live in Newcastle include:-   

Jesmond

This upmarket area, just outside the city centre, is very popular for people who enjoy vibrant nightlife, exciting eateries, unique boutiques and parks. Jesmond Dene offers a peaceful atmosphere for everyone. Children in particular are well catered for with a pets’ corner that has goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs and peacocks. There are also nature trails, ponds and a small river. With many bars and beer terraces on Osborne Road in Jesmond, there couldn’t be a better place to relax.   

Gosforth

An affluent district, Gosforth has a very busy shopping centre in the High Street. There’s a good choice of shops, bars, restaurants and of course fantastic accommodation close by. The Bake One deserves a mention here, it is a personal favourite of ours and provides the best Lebenase food in Newcastle! There are also three public tennis courts for the more energetic and for DIY enthusiasts, Thorpes, a hardware store, has everything you need. The County pub is a listed building that sells a wonderful range of cask ales. In fact, Gosforth is definitely the “in” place to live.   

The City Centre

For people who wish to live in the city centre, beautiful apartments, studios, flats and houses are available to rent. Newcastle is a vibrant place with a huge arena where famous celebrities perform. Enjoy guided walking tours, theatres, comedy festivals and sporting events plus the Great North Run which is usually held in September. Shopaholics will love Northumberland Street, the main thoroughfare in the city that has many brand name stores. Newcastle is also a very historic city with a keep and plenty of interesting old cobbled streets near the River Tyne.   

Quayside

This area of Newcastle has many lovely buildings and of course there’s always something going on. Can you see yourself living in a penthouse with superb views across the city, high quality furnishings and private parking? There are boat trips up and down the river, a Sunday market, wine tasting and live theatre, all on or close to the Quayside. The Sage at Gateshead is just a stone’s throw away from the Quayside. Here you can enjoy music, plays, opera or just have a wander around this exquisite, modern building. With many art galleries and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, there’s no shortage of culture around.
