About Jesmond

Jesmond, located north of the centre of Newcastle on Tyne, is considered to be one of the city’s most affluent suburbs. It offers the perfect combination of being affordable to live in and only a couple of miles from the city centre.

As one of Newcastle’s oldest and finest suburbs, Jesmond is known for its beautiful rows of Victorian terraced houses. This fashionable district attracts a wide range of people from families to students, young professionals and socialites. The region is a highly sought-after neighbourhood which is not surprising with its selective range of:

  • Boutique shops
  • Quaint cafes
  • Lively bars
  • Diverse restaurants

Lots of things to do

There are plenty of things to do in leafy Jesmond, especially those who enjoy a night out. Osborne Road is the place to go. It has some of Newcastle’s best bars and restaurants, such as:

  • Fat Hippo
  • The Cherry Tree
  • Sohe
  • As You Like It
  • Mr Lynch

Osborne Road has a vibrant atmosphere at the weekends when people let their hair down and have some fun. Midweek students living here can benefit from discount deals on drinks and food in a variety of establishments.

Jesmond also has its quieter side, ideal for couples and families. Check out Acorn Road, home to hidden gems. There’s a library, leisure centre and a good number of independent retailers. For a great coffee, tasty cakes and the opportunity to watch the world go by, Brentwood Avenue has a selection of trendy cafes.

Jesmond Dene

Jesmond Dene is in the heart of Jesmond. Known for its outstanding natural beauty, the park is a great place to visit especially during the summer months. People of all ages enjoy picnics there, going for walks and there’s plenty for kids to do.

Jesmond Dene House can be found right in the centre of the Dene. It was once the home of the industrial pioneer, Lord Armstrong and is now a stunning hotel with a luxurious restaurant. As a must-see attraction, the locals are very proud of its heritage.

Living in Jesmond

One of the many reasons why so many people choose to live in Jesmond is the easy transport links.
